LAVA Iris X1 Review

Lava launched its budget phone Lava Iris X1 in the price range of Rs 6-7K and to compete with its competitors like Micromax,Karbonn,Celkon etc.But its main competitor in this range is MOTO E with brand of Motorola. There is one problem however. Getting your hands on a Moto E is next to impossible since the phone has been out of stock for a while and there’s no telling if Flipkart can keep up with the demand. To fill the void, XOLO, Lava and Micromax have all announced Moto E-like specifications for around the same price. The feature set is also slightly better than the Moto E, at least on paper.Lets check out what you get with the Lava Iris X1 for Rs. 7,999.

The ultimate in design with an 11.43 cm (4.5) IPS display screen with 179° viewing angle; the LAVA Iris X1 is perfectly sized with straight lines, rightly curved edges and a full laminated display, crafted to appeal to you every time you access your phone. With the precision of every detail—the unobtrusive design, the balance of direction, the smart looks - the X1 is crafted to perfection and made to last.
Each element of the camera in the LAVA Iris X1 has been carefully selected to improve the quality of the image captured in bright light and low light. The 1/3.2-inch 8.0 MP OmniBSI+ CameraChip Sensor with Dual LED Flash is built on advanced OmniBSI+ pixel architecture, providing improvements in low-light sensitivity. The 5-Elements Lens with Aperture of F/2.2 allows for more light to reach the Camera Sensor, thus improving the image quality in bright light as well as dark light. The pixel size of 1.4 × 1.4 captures more light, thus providing more clarity, contrast and detail.
Battery and Android Version
The Lava Iris X1 is equipped with a 1800mAh battery and considering that it has to power just a FWVGA display, you would expect the battery performance to be good and it doesn’t disappoint. The battery definitely lasts for a day of moderate usage with 3G on for about an hour. When we tried playing videos continuously, we got about 6-7 hours of battery life. Overall, the battery performance is above average.
Iris X1 powered by the superior Android KitKat 4.4.2
Processor and Memory
The Lava Iris X1 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom SoC – BCM23550 and the graphics are taken care by Videocore GPU IV. There is 1GB RAM to help the processor and it is becoming a norm these days.
The internal storage is 4GB and it is the concern for most people. There is a microSD card slot to expand your storage space. The 4GB internal storage is divided to two parts – one for the apps 1.11GB and the other that can be accessed by the user for storing music and videos – 1.36GB.
Lava Iris X1 is just okay and leaves you wanting a little more speed from your phone with a quad-core processor and 1GB RAM.
Connectivity and Additional Features
The Lava Iris X1 supports 2G and 3G depending on which slot you insert your card in. You also get Wi-Fi ‘n’, Bluetooth v4.0, USB OTG support and GPS. There’s no NFC or GLONASS however. We didn’t have any issues with call quality on the X1.
Lava iris x1 comes up with various oreloaded appa like FM,Musicplayer and video player which can run 1080p videos.
